Cavalor Gastro Aid Liq is a liquid digestive supplement that supports stomach health and a healthy appetite. It can be mixed into the feed or given directly into the mouth, and the bottle comes with a pump.

A horse's stomach produces acid around the clock, which makes it naturally sensitive, especially when forage intake is limited or during stressful periods. Gastro Aid supports a healthy stomach environment and helps maintain the normal structure and function of the stomach. It stimulates saliva production during chewing, the horse's natural first step in healthy digestion, and supports the stomach wall.

The formula mainly consists of herbs that protect the stomach wall and help neutralise stomach acid, including gentian, lemon balm, liquorice, ginger and centaury.

Looking for daily support as a powder? Find Gastro Aid powder here. For an instant dose in a paste, find Gastro Aid Paste here.

Key ingredients

  • Yeast cultures (inactive): aid in feed absorption and the digestibility of feed materials.
  • Gentiana lutea: stimulates saliva production and neutralises stomach acid, so there is less chance of the stomach acid affecting the stomach wall.
  • Melissa officinalis: protects the stomach wall.
  • Glycyrrhiza glabra: affects the regulation of the gastrointestinal function and has an antibacterial effect.
  • Zingiber officinale: protects the stomach wall and helps damaged tissues heal faster.
  • Centaurium erythraea: stimulates the production of saliva.

Feeding guide

Mix 60 ml per day with the feed for at least 4-6 weeks. 1 x pump = 30 ml. Maximum 100 ml per day.

Suitability

Horses with a sensitive stomach are often more difficult about what they eat and do not tolerate powder on their feed, so Cavalor Gastro Aid is available in various forms (powder, liquid, paste). Where stomach ulcers have been diagnosed, the paste is often used first, and once the stomach is less sensitive and the horse is eating better you can switch from the paste to the powder or liquid.

The liquid and powder forms are also used daily as a preventive measure for horses that are susceptible to stomach ulcers. Unlike the drug omeprazole, Gastro Aid does not stop the production of stomach acid. However, it does protect the stomach from damage caused by stomach acid.

Cavalor describes it as a good fit for horses that can use extra digestive support during training, transport, competition or changes in routine.
